Could daylight savings affect IVF?

A new report has revealed that daylight savings could affect IVF treatment and the amazing reason why.

The authors of the report claim that moving our clocks back and forward can impact conception and the likelihood of miscarriage.

It also suggests that women are more likely to miscarry during Autumn and Spring.

The report, led by Boston University Medical Center, claims the the slight changes of daylight savings time has an impact on the circadian rhythm, the body’s internal clock.

It has been a long-held belief that the one-hour difference may increase the risk of heart attacks, but this study was the first of its kind to assess its impact on fertility.

The study focused on 1,654 IVF patients between 2009 and 2012.

They were separated into three groups, depending on the timing of their embryo transfer.

Researchers found a woman had a greater chance of suffering a miscarriage if their embryo transfer occurred 21 days after the clocks went forward.
